03 Sep A little slice of Paris at Patisserie de Paris in Blairgowrie
Last week, my mom suggested that we meet for lunch at Patisserie de Paris in Blairgowrie. Always enthusiastic to try somewhere new, I readily agreed. Oh boy – am I glad that she suggested this delight!
Tucked away in a small shopping centre behind the Engen garage on Conrad Drive, if you blink you’ll drive straight past it. So you need to be pretty certain about where you are going.
The restaurant is divided in three – a bakery, a deli as well as a restaurant. The decor is quite delightful, reminding me of a typically Parisian salon du the (tea house). Being the arch Francophile, as soon as I set foot in the door I fell on love!
For lunch, I had the salad Nicoise while my mom had the chicken salad. The balance of flavours was so exceptional that I couldn’t wait to take the next bite!
The crowning glory of Patisserie de Paris is most certainly their bakery. I have had many a macaroon in South Africa, on a quest to find one which equals that to be found in Paris. Well, my search ended here… Owner/boulanger Paul Zwick had successfully recreated the Parisian macaroon – right here in Jozi!
Do yourself a favour – pay a visit to Patisserie de Paris. But make sure that you workout after – you may need it!
