Hodges: a Craighall neighbourhood classic that’s a must-visit

Hodges Coffee House and Restaurant Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hodges in the Colony in Craighall Park is one of the cornerstones of the neighbourhood. And there are a number of good reasons why.

Being someone who works from home, I often feel the need to get out of the house and find somewhere else to work. Being across the road from where I live,  Hodges is always my venue of choice as the food is wholesome and tasty, it’s well priced and the ambience is buzzy yet relaxed enough for me to concentrate.

Headed by Donald Clark, the staff are polite, respectful  and do their best – and even go out of their way – to make sure that your experience at Hodges is what you expect. I am very impressed by their level of service and am sure I will continue to be so.

My favourite dish at Hodges is the meze platter that has on it, among others, halloumi sticks as well as a selection of Greek-style dips. Another of the specialities at Hodges are their pies – the chicken and mushroom one is incredible.

Whatever you do, don’t leave without trying their cakes. I can recommend the apple pie as well as the carrot cake.  Hodges also makes a chocolate cake – I haven’t had it but judging from their other cakes I am sure it’s delicious!
