08 Oct My Bread and Butter in Parkview – I can’t decide…
My Bread and Butter is a relatively new addition to Parkview’s restaurant line-up and boasts a menu worthy of any foodie programme on BBC Lifestyle.
The decor is modern and it maximises on the restaurant’s position on the corner of the Parkview precinct of shops thus affording it the opportunity of having massive windows to allow lots of light into the restaurant.
The owners are great and add a buzzy, lively atmosphere to the restaurant. My husband and I popped in here for a drink on Heritage Day and were so impressed with the innovative menu and prices that we bookmarked it to try later.
Looking for a place to grab a bite to eat the other day, my mom suggested that we try My Bread and Butter. Being starch intolerant, I always go for the salads and was disappointed to see that not many of their salads come without rice, potatoes or similar.
I first opted for a chicken salad that came with a “sesame seed batter”. As the menu didn’t have a description of how the dish was prepared, I assumed that the chicken was merely coated in sesame seeds. I was not impressed to see the chicken come out in a deep – fried batter. However, they gladly exchanged it for the mozzarella salad:
It was quite nice to see that they had paired fresh tomatoes with their sundried equivalent – something which I am going to try at home.
My mom had the baby marrow salad, which she enjoyed:
We rounded off the meal with two cappuccinos. These were creamy and delicious – the highlight of the meal, for me.
So would I recommend My Bread and Butter? I think that they have potential but are not there yet. I’ll have to check back in a bit…
